friday favorites

Happy Friday everyone!

I don't think it's possible to be happier about the weekend than I am at this moment.
And I'm not even excited for any particular reason.
Except sleep.
I am extremely excited for that.
This week has been dragging by for me {not to mention Joe has been working some crazy hours}, so I'm looking forward to having some quality time at home together, watching football, and trying some new recipes!
Including {but not limited to} beef stew made with beer.
Am I the only one that's never heard of this?
I've been wanting to make beef stew for awhile now and I don't really have a go-to recipe for that, but after extensive research it seems like it's fairly common to put beer in it.
Obviously I'm intrigued, so I'll keep you posted on how that turns out.

As usual, here are some things I've been loving this week:

1. TED

This is probably the psychology nerd in me coming out, but TED is a website {and app!} where you can listen to all kinds of different talks/lectures about anything really.  For example, on the way home yesterday I listened to this one about how happiness can make you more productive at work and in life and the psychology behind it.  I just think it's so cool how a person's outlook on the world can completely change everything.  It's definitely worth a listen!

2. Any and all desserts made in my new ramekins
top {left to right}: chocolate peanut butter cookie; pumpkin cake w/ cinnamon & sugar
bottom {left to right}: chocolate lava cake; white chocolate peanut butter cookie
Did I mention I have a serious problem with my sugar consumption?
I'm sorry, but these little ramekins are just too perfect for personal-sized desserts.

3. Curls

my attempt
Pinterest inspired me this week to curl my otherwise straight-364-days-of-the-year hair.  If you know me, you know my hair never holds curl, so I was pretty pleased with the results of this tutorial.  Pinterest tutorials for the win!

4.  This site dedicated solely to grilled cheese sandwiches.  Enough said.

5.  Circle scarves like this one on Etsy.  This will definitely be my next crochet project {in 10 years when I finish this huge blanket I'm working on}.

Have a lovely weekend, friends!

  1. Remember when you used to make fun of me for crocheting?? ;)
And I looove TED talks! I just posted one on Facebook recently thats worth watching. Its called "How to live to be 100+"--pretty amazing and inspiring!
Please make me all of those desserts- but use a regular size dish rather than ramekins because that is how much I want...
P.S. thank for the grilled cheese site- YUM!
Love the blog- you've got great stuff on here!
